Beginning of September – I was very lucky to win VIP tickets for myself and a good friend (lovely Kim!) to go behind the scenes of one of Horse & Country’s new series ‘National Racehorse Week’ in association with NAF. It really was a priceless moment.
Filming was based at the outstanding Warrant Greatrex Racing Yard in Lambourn, formerly Oliver Sherwood’s base – the facilities are really out of this world, and all the racehorses are treated like Kings and Queens. I’d quite happily move in.
The new H&C series was hosted by the talented Rosie Tapner who you may recognise from presenting racing on TV, along with special guest eventing supreme and racing guru Yogi Breisner.
It was a wonderful day spent in the world of racing, everyone was genuinely so friendly, and I came away with a changed perception of what it’s like to work in racing. It really is a very special world.
The Horse & Country team made the VIP winners feel very welcome and it was fascinating to see what goes into filming a TV series for ‘National Racehorse Week’ which is a fantastic idea. The team were super professional, always on it and worked quickly to get the shots needed taking into consideration the horses and riders involved.
I tried to get some shots from the day on my Olympus Pen camera and thought I’d share some from the day to accompany the 5 parts of the series.
Part 4 – Q&A with Yogi – if you watch this episode, make sure you keep a lookout for someone who might have made an appearance and asked Yogi an eventing x racing question. 🙂
Well, I hope you enjoyed going behind the scenes on my VIP day with Horse & Country to celebrate National Racehorse Week- it really was a priceless experience and one I will always remember. Huge thank you to the team for making us feel welcome and looking after us.
